aLinks Plugin for WordPress - Quick Guide

aLinks is a free WordPress plugin that takes a set of phrases you commonly use and turns them into links whenever you include them in a post.
You don’t have to type out any HTML at all, or add special codes to your post. aLinks automagically finds the keyphrases in your post, and turns them into links.
The Modules
I. Deeper Blog Keyphrases
The majority of people visiting your blog are arriving at a post from a search engine like Technorati or Google, and many of those people will read your post and then move on. Everyone wants to bring people deeper into their blog, and aLinks’ new Deeper Blog module can help.
The Deeper Blog module creates links within your blog post to other posts within your blog that has content related to the keyphrase. If you define the keyphrase “book”, and use the word “book” in a post, aLinks will turn that word into a link to another post in your blog that appears to have something to do with book.
Visitors will read your post, and then follow the links. As they follow the links they go deeper into your blog.
Settings
The module only has one setting: Don’t Search Post Older than Days. If this setting is set to 30, then the module will only look for relevant post that have been modified or created in the past 30 days. The default value if this setting is left blank, is 20 days.
It’s important not to set this setting too high. The further back you let the module search, the longer it will take to find the best match for the keyphrase.
Optimizing
You can increase the performance of this module by turning on FULLTEXT indexes in the WordPress database. If FULLTEXT indexes aren’t found on the post title, excerpt, or content columns, the module will use a slower method to find relevant posts. If FULLTEXT indexes are on the post title, excerpt, and content columns, then the module will use a much faster MySQL approach to finding relevant posts.
A default install of WordPress does not have FULLTEXT indexes on only columns, but you can add them yourself. Adding the indexes will have no effect on WordPress, and will speed up this module.
You can add the indexes from phpMyAdmin by issuing the following SQL:
ALTER TABLE `wp_posts` ADD FULLTEXT (`post_content`, `post_title`, `post_excerpt`);
Replace ‘wp_posts’ if you are using something other than the default table prefix. 95% of you will be fine issuing that exact query. Make sure you have the correct database selected when you issue the query.
II. Amazon, eBay, Clickbank, and more!
Who doesn’t want to make a little money with their websites? There are plenty of affiliate programs out there, and you can make money with them, but promoting your affiliate programs can be a hassle. Not only are people conditioned to ignore web advertising, but constantly cutting and pasting affiliate codes into your posts is a real pain.
The aLinks plugin can create links for many of the popular affiliate programs out there, and can be expanded to handle all of them! Use links in your posts instead of big banner ads that no one sees anyway, and leave behind the cutting and pasting of long affiliate codes forever. Just write your post like you normally do, and aLinks will find the keyphrases and turn them into links automagically.
Settings
There are two settings for this module:
Amazon Associates ID - Set this to the ID you were given when you joined the Amazon Associates program. This module will not work if you don’t set this setting.
Amazon URL - Amazon has a bunch of different URLs for different countries. With this setting chose either; amazon.com, amazon.ca, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.co.jp, or amazon.fr. You want to chose the right URL for the country you’re in, or the closest one to it.
